Bare exposed welds are combined with hand forged parts - The recipe for its gothic industrial aesthetic.
The design is based on functionality and elegance.
Its stability is ensured by two delicate forged thorns puncturing the surface of the metal sheet creating thus a light and well balanced composition.
The upper circular hole was cut in a traditional way at a high temperature using a curved chisel which makes its edges nicely bevelled. Finally the individual parts are connected with stick welding technology. This candlestick was primarily designed to make use of welds.
A welded product in my offer?
Imperfect as they are, the welds have that organic liquid charm. It took me years to finally acknowledge it. I have always been against welding, but on the other hand I was aware of the aesthetic and practical qualities of this technique. Thanks to the cooperation with a good friend of mine I had the opportunity to get a better insight into welding. Ultimately, I came to the conclusion that stick welding is a skill not to be underestimated. It widens the possibilities and I took up the challenge of mastering and integrating this technology properly into my work.
